Now's Bovine Colostrum is collected from the first 12 hour lactation. It is rich in Immunoglobulins. Each 500 mg capsule contains an average of 25% IgG Antibodies and a minimum of 0.6% Lactoferrin.

Colostrum is the pre-milk fluid secreted by cows in the first hours after birth. It is a nutrient-rich milk product that supplies immune system factors to young calves to stimulate their immune systems.

NOW Colostrum is taken from cattle raised in America, specifically North Dakota and northern Wisconsin, during the first 12 hours after birth. The extraction process is humane and does not adversely affect the mother cow or calf.

NOW Colostrum is carefully screened for impurities, and is processed using a low heat, spray-dry method that does not compromise the integrity of the product. The cattle are raised without the use of hormones and/or antibiotics, and NOW rich in IGF Lacto Ferrin transfer factor. Our Colostrum is supplied by Sterling Technologies.

Should NOW Colostrum be kept refrigerated?

Colostrum itself does not require refrigeration. In order to aid with digestion and absorption, we include Acidophilus, a healthy form of bacteria naturally occurring in the human gastrointestinal tract.

Because it is an actual live organism, refrigeration is required or the Acidophilus organisms will die off due to heat. If left unrefrigerated, Colostrum will still be effective. It just won't be broken down as quickly during digestion.
